Samice owcy kameruńskiej są asezonalne, ruję mają co trzy tygodnie. Ciąża trwa 5 miesięcy. I już po trzech tygodniach od wykotu, matka może zajść w ciążę. Dlatego warto mieć możliwość odseparowania tryka od matek z młodymi (np. trzymając go w grupie z młodymi tryczkami), żeby mogły je odkarmić i zregenerować własne siły .
Owiec kameruńskich nie wolno trzymać pojedynczo. Samotność powoduje u nich bardzo duży stres.

West African Hair Sheep is a beautiful and undemanding breed that can become quite tame with the owner. However, their pasture needs to be fenced in.
The ewes go into season every three weeks, and the pregnancy lasts 5 months. As soon as three weeks after giving birth, they are able to become pregnant again. Because of that it is useful to be able to separate the ram form the nursing ewes to give them time to nurse the lambs and regain their own strength.
The sheep should never be kept singly, as it causes them a great deal of distress.
